Day 1590 a double?

We are going for it, heat and all! Time to enjoy the first of two days off from work.

Here we go...


I went on a rant and I am not sure I got my message across.But Dr Suess said it best... Those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

To me that means the people who mind do not know you.The people that know do know you understand you.

My intention was to see where and why people do not take their work out as serious as I do. I love the process and all about the process that is why I do not miss a day. My passion was directed towards myself and my desire to do a two hour workout. 

Oh well, a great. I burned 4713 in 123 minutes for the 53RD double in last 1590 days. I now average a double every.Sixty one chin ups and nine minutes of plank. Did 350 killers and 450 crunches and 700 q's and 800 floors.
Weight 179.

Day 1589 beat day 1588!

Here we are swinging away.
Burned 2301 again a strong finish. 61 chin ups and 10 minutes of plank-HEY.
340 killers,510 crunches and 710 quantum crunches with 800 floors. I felt very loose! I am sure the heat helped.
Weight 182. No salad.
A we climb to 90 degrees and head into a work less weekend. Heck, it is the fourth of July weekend.

Day 1588 The day we burn more than 2300 calories in an hour!

I held fast to that statement.I started slow as I burned only 1125 in the first 30 minutes.Then I recalled what I wrote the day before and I got extremely focused.In the last 30 minutes I burned 1184 calories.

Day 1587 Shall we workout?

We worked out and I got more and more determined as I worked out. Determination usually for me starts in the beginning of the workout. Today it came after I got peeved at the outcome of my initial efforts.

Today, we burned 2266 calories in 60 minutes, 40 chin ups and 9 minutes of plank, 300 killers.We also did, 530 crunches and 700 quantum crunches with 900 floor crunches.

Weight 180- Awesome.

Day 1586 As we close in on 1600.

And work on getting our legs back under us. As was the situation last Monday, when I concluded a span of three hours of cardiovascular workouts in 19 hours. So for two Mondays in a row I did an average of 1 cardiovascular workout ever 6 hours and 20 min. Where is Stu Mittleman who ran 1000 miles in eleven days? How about miles ahead of me.Ole Stu, averaged (11x 24= 244 hours) he averaged 4 miles an hour for 11 day days.Which meant he technically never stopped running for 11 days!

The weather today is just glorious. 


Anyway my body is beginning to feel more refreshed as I get back to a more familiar pattern.

I burned 2263 in an hour and did 53 chin ups with 7 minutes of plank and 220 killers with 530 crunches and 730 q's and 900 floors.Weighed in at a surprising 181.

Everything went off without a hitch,Up at 315am on the machine at 415am and at the studio at 545 am.

Day 1584 we go for the deuce!

Ah, the deuce a culmination of work outs. Usually done on the weekend to test the stamina of my weekly workouts.It is usually a workout that lasts three hours and today, will be followed by a mowing of the lawn.

I will do a Monday schedule. Where I will be at the gym at 415 am and at the studio at 5:45am. After that off to work by 8:30 am.This requires a 3:15 am wake up call.

Now, I enjoy the day off and begin with the double.

The weather is a beautiful 73 degrees!

As we embark...


It was a different machine but a great challenge with three layers and no fan. I did a two hour cardiovascular workout followed by chin ups and plank and crunches then without the luxury of drinking any fluids I mowed the lawn. from 1020 am to 240 pm I did not stop moving and I had no fluids. What a rush. The weather was perfect.

Day 1583 Okay heat, take a break!

The heat is not as much of a dominating factor as we head towards a day of workout and work.I am sure the challenges of the heat will be there.However, unlike a snow storm which usually carries with it a significant cold blast the heat just stops and is replaced by a different weather pattern. We experienced strong rains and avoided our personal power outages.

Now we give it a whack and go back to 3 layers.

The net out burned 2328 in 60 and did 61 chin ups and 9 minutes of plank with 330 killers and 50 crunches and  get this 820 q's.I am feeling stronger but... I am weighing in higher. As I finished with 900 floor crunches.Weight 188 the highest since? I have been eating a handful of almonds a day. Plus I found myself after the last few challenging days eating more and with a desire to balance my tiredness.

Day 1582 The forecast is for not as hot.

A little more humid and less heat as the rain is expected to cool things off after the first heat wave of the summer should end. I forgot how challenging sleep can be in this heat. I got an earlier start today. With an awesome push at the end I burned 2340 in 60 a leap of almost one full minute faster than yesterday. With 50 chin ups and 7 minutes of tough plank and 300 killers,430 crunches and 600 q's with 800 floors.I weighed in at 187.That was surprising.

As we began summer I realized that this my 18Th season of this streak. There have 4 seasons of winter,spring, summer and fall. One additional winter and one more spring. Four years and now we are starting our nineteenth season.

Day 1581 we are inside the 20- the green zone!

Try the hot zone. Without anything but a strong desire to see if wearing two layers would be a good enough workout. I pressed on to an awesome workout by burning    2308 calories in 60, 50 chin ups, 8 minutes of plank,340 killers,500 crunches,700 q crunches and 800 floor crunches. I weighed in at 184.

The temperature today is supposed to climb to 100 degrees.Whoa, my house is a tough 80 something and yesterday was at 90. The gym is at or around 75.

Day 1580 As we make our way towards five years!

Few round numbers 1580, 20 days to go and 6/20/12. As we continue our assault on 1600 days. Sixteen hundred equals four years and one hundred and forty days.

Today, as things start to heat up(temps are forecast at 90  today) we burned 2296 with three layers on- did 50 chin ups and get this 9 minutes of plank! Did 340 killers,440 crunches, 610 q's and 800 floor crunches and weighed in at 184.

Day 1581 we are inside the 20- the green  zone!

Day 1579 Back to a good hard workout!

Beautiful, as we got back to chin ups and plank and crunches!And let us not forget stretching!

Burned 2329 in 60. Was excited to do 50 chin ups, 8 plus minutes of plank, 340 killers,450 crunches and 600 q's. Finished with 800 floor crunches.
Weighed in at 181.

That is an excellent point, and it raises the question of .....I have my opinion but, first I want to hear yours.

The show was a blast! As I raced to the studio after getting up at 315am and getting on the machine in time to burn 2392 and then was yacking on the radio.I weighed in at 179.

I will probably turn in early to night.

Fifty two workouts where I did two hours or more of cardio is in the books. Now we take a look at the numbers:

Day 1576 We do our double Sunday this week. As we work on Saturday.

As we ready our selves for the next 48 excitement is at a high level. I am extremely charged to know that I will be on the radio for my first live broadcast on Monday morning between 6 and 7 am.I will be getting an opportunity on a weekly basis to share my thoughts on the world of sports

The air time of 6 am poses a good challenge because I am usually completing my hour of cardio at that time.However, in an effort to do the cardio I will have to be at the gym earlier and do as much of the hour as I can, in an effort to get to the studio before 6 am.

Speaking of gym......

A great burst of energy, as I burned  2-4-2-7 calories in sixty minutes! I just stayed extremely focused and kept the pedal to the metal once I hit my stride. I did get off to a good start by burning 187 calories in the first 5 minutes!Then I just kept on increasing my calorie burn every five minutes for the next 55 minutes. I felt so oh good! I did 41 chin ups with 94 pounds of assistance and eight minutes of plank then did, 340 killers, 480 crunches and 650 q's with 900 floor crunches.Weight 184. I feel strong!

Now off to work and hopefully church.

Banged  out an awesome 2337 calorie burn as my energy level has picked up. Did 50 94 pound assisted chin ups.8 minutes of plank.600 q's 270 k's and 340 crunches with 900 floors.Weigh in? 186.

Day 1574 how do I follow a day like 1573?

By digging in and doing a similar performance on Day 1574. It strange the days seem to have majestic reasons and meanings behind them. Every step every breath have a purpose as we stow away another precious piece of production. The burning of 2295 calories in 60 minutes.The 40 hard fought 94 lb. chin ups and seven tough minutes of holding the plank position.Every one of the crunches.As I did 330 killers and 440 crunches with 520 q's and 900 floor crunches.As I weighed in at 184.

We come to bring it each day as we battle to load every ounce of energy into this huge vacuum of time.

Day 1573 Four years and 113 days-Unbelievable!

Almost didn't happen as I dragged my beleaguered body to the gym.


Day 1573 here is what I did: I burned 2298 in 60, did 8 minutes of plank 50 94 lb. assisted chin ups. 270 killers 340 crunches and 440 q's.Plus 900 floors.
Weight 186.

And just about dropped!

Day 1572 just speeding down the highway to Day 1600!

There is something awesome about putting in a good strong kick in the last 15 or 20 minutes of a cardiovascular workout.That extreme desire to hit a number just manifests itself and your brain gets wired to it. I was working hard for the first half hour and saw that I had burned 1122. I said to myself, "no way am I going to settle for 2244."And you know what? I did not settle for that amount.

I decide to measure my efforts in small chunks of time. I figured if If I could see how I am doing each minute it will make me more accountable for the calories I was burning. A good pace to run at is 40 calories per minute. I decide to chase 50 calories a minute.So for every minute after 43 minutes I chased 50.When I knew I was not going to get it in the last 20 seconds I made sure I hit forty every time! My pace picked up and some times I would burn 45 or higher.The total for sixty was 2325.A total of 1203 was burned in the last thirty minutes. By breaking it down into one minute bursts I was able to keep up the pace and  strive for the target.Although, I missed it just about every time I never stopped my effort to reach it.

Quite the metaphor for life. I did 42 chin ups with 94 pounds of assistance.I did 7 minutes of plank. I usually do about two songs that play over the speakers but, today there was no music playing over the speakers.I did 520 q's, 340 crunches and 200 killers. I am not sure how many floor crunches 800? Because I usually do it for about 10 minutes or 2 and a half songs but, again no music to accurately measure.
Weighed in at 186.The protein does help me feel stronger but, it may be helping me add weight.

Day 1571 A good challenge as we fire on less rest

I had some rest this weekend I did not consider my 410 am wake call any kind of inconvenience.I felt good as I burned 2267 today. I did 40 94 pound assisted chin ups and 7 minutes of plank. Crunches were not loose as I did 270 killers,300 crunches and 430 q's and 800 floors. Weighed in at 185 as I am eating more protein.Lately, I have been eatin quinoa and almonds.

I feel stronger. More balanced.

Here is a thought-
A reflection of the times--

I grew up with the only way to reach some one was visiting them in person,calling them on the the phone that was on a table or on a wall or mailing them a post card or letter.You really had to be very good at conveying your feelings and your cares for some one back then, if you were to be understood. The person was right in front of you eyeball to eyeball about 90 % of the time. 

Would  people be closer to one another if we did not have all of this technology?

We did our 51 ST double today. We started our 123 minute trek at 955 am. We burned 4662 calories and did 60 94 pound assisted chin ups.Did an awesome 8 1/2 minutes of plank. Had a good crunch session 340 killers.370 crunches .With 480 q's. 800 floor crunches.Weight 181.Had 3 heavy layers on.

Day 1569 Number 50 on the way!

Dressed, fed and ready to play!

Fifty in the books!
In 1569 I did 50 doubles which averages out to one double every  31 days.

We played with no fans and with 3 layers. I did 4598 in 122 minutes.I felt really strong as my effort on the chin ups and plank showed.I also nailed the crunches.

I did 50 94 pound assisted chin ups. I did 8 minutes of plank.Again this after a 122 minute cardio.I did 4 sets of crunches

  • 340 killers
  • 450 crunches
  • 630 q's
  • 800 floor crunches
I weighed in at 179. I feel renewed strength as I stand here eating oatmeal mixed with fresh pineapple mixed with banana and cinnamon and water. Life is awfully sweet as it is washed with vitamins and orange juice and lemon flavored seltzer!

Day 1568 We are a #32 Jim Brown from 1600.

Again gave maximum effort. This time I beat yesterday by doing a 2328 calorie burn w/out the fan! I was like a hot knife cutting through room temperature butter.My chin ups were strong as I used 94 pounds of assistance to do 44. I was able to hold the plank position for 7 minutes. I did 270 killers,340 crunches and 440 q's with a finish of 800 floor crunches.Weight 184.
I got two hours more sleep than the night before.

I am psyched for the fiftieth double tomorrow.

Day 1567 Beat 2368!

Nice try as I gave maximum effort. Stomach on the funny cide  but, did answer the bell as I burned 2282 and plowed through chin ups and planks and crunches. Did 43 chin ups with 94 pounds of assistance. Did two sets of plank one for 3 minutes and 5 minutes.Did 200 killers,330 crunches and 610 q's and 900 floor crunches. Weight 185.

Hearing some one tell about the minutia of their workout is about as exciting as hearing some one tell you about each stroke in their eighteen holes of golf-LOL-

Day 1566 July fourth ish is the due date for 1600!

Raise your hand if you feel that you should workout in comfort? My point is do you feel that the condition should totally comfortable. Headset on, water bottle handy, TV in good working condition, equipment working smoothly, Nice fan to cool you off after all why sweat no need to get all hot and bothered, after all it is just a workout.

I believe that comfort and workout do not mix. Thats just me, maybe.

Today I got stuck with the stupid fan on my back because there is a stupid rule that requires the fan to be on if, anyone suggests.

Burned 2367 in sixty and did 45 chin ups, 6 minutes of plank, 270 killers, 340 crunches and 530 q's. 800 floors weighed in at 185.

Day 1565 Four years and 105 days!

On this day I was beaten by yesterday's numbers as a 2286 in 60 doesn't beat a 2342 in 60.I did 41 96 pound assisted chin ups and a seven plank. Crunches: 200 killers 270 crunches 350 q's and 800 floors.Weigh in 185.

As we sprint to the daily toil as I have been precluded to do to.Business and no meetings called. I should give a talk today. However, who knows. Its funny there was a guy there who's reply to how its going was who knows and another guy there who would say "who cares".Guess what? They are are both gone! I was reminded by this fact just a second ago when I remember I saw who cares yesterday. Then I thought about how the other fella that said "who knows" recently left.

Interesting. Now we close in on 1600 which is a little more than a month away ETA- July fourth ish.

Day 1564 back to a great workout

AMEN Burned 2342 as we got back in the swing of it.Did 40 94 pound assisted chin ups and 5 minutes on the plank.My crunches were not perfect yet. As I did 150 killers and 200 crunches with 340 q's and 800 floors weighed in  at  183.

My knee feels a little balky but it feel better. I am lined up for a Sunday to Saturday run of work.

Day 1563 I will walk for one hour or more, as early as I can then I come home and go to work.

Nice walk but it is, just a walk.I will consider it a work out. It now gives me an incentive to have some equipment at home that I like. It is a beautiful day.I weighed in at 187.

Not my favorite weight. Got some great news from one of our followers. It looks like his career is taking off and a lot of  us   will be seeing a lot of him. God bless him and his aspirations. Folks a positive attitude and a great work ethic can go a long way!

Day 1562 we go for our 49TH double!

The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain.Wow we got some rain.  I officially have labeled this day a great workout day.I got three layers on as we go for our 49TH double. Tomorrow I will go for a good walk and then go to work.

Now I am ready for the rain and a good two hour cardiovascular work out. It is much cooler today.

After 8,019 games and fifty years of playing ball the NY Mets finally did something they have yet to accomplish--
They got a ho hitter from their star ting pitcher his name Johan Santana.

I am not a Met fan but, I follow baseball.


I did my 49TH double and burned 4371 in the 120 minutes.My knee was a little balky but it felt better the looser it got. I did 30 96 pound assisted chin ups and 5 minutes of plank. My crunches were tough to come by as I did 150 killers 270 crunches and 350 q's. I finishedwith 800 floors.Weighed in at 180.

To summarize, it was an awesome workout that made me feel very alive-Hallelujah!

Day 1561 here we go!

A new month.Check off the last 51 months. Less is the 101ST day of year number four and the ninth day of the 52 ND month.
I did wear my hood on for the whole sixty minutes while burning a poultry 2237 calories. I am looking forward to doing a double tomorrow.I did 40 86 pound assisted chin ups with 5 minutes of plank.Then I crunched 330 killers with 450 crunches and 620  q's.I did do 850 floor crunches and weighed in at 183.

The weather has been spectacular!

Day 1562 we go for our 49TH double!
