Day 798- Feeling good and strong is a tremendous asset

In a few days, I will be asked a few questions about myself. I can anticipate these questions will focus on primarily, what I can bring to the table. I suppose a burning desire to succeed would be one thing and a very competitive spirit would be another along with a self starter's mentality.

I hope that is a good foundation!

Was able to burn 1,475 calories in 60 minutes.

Day 797- We are on the back nine of this round

To make it official, we need to complete days 797, 798,799 and 800. With the Good Lord willing, Sunday May 2nd will be Day 800. Strictly from a percentage point of view, we have completed 0.99625 percent of 800 days. Over the last 91 days I have used the arc trainer machine as my only source for completion of my daily 60 minute cardiovascular workout. To be accurate here is an account of the events that has transpired since then.

On Thursday, January 28Th 2010 I started using the arctrainer. That was Day 706. Up to day 717, I had done 722 workouts. So when I needed to do a medical procedure and was not able to workout for 2 days, I used two of my extra five workouts. So when I started Day 719 I had three extra workouts left. However, on Day 736 I did my first 2 workouts in one day while using the arctrainer. so now as of Day 796 I have completed 4 extra workouts for a total of 800 workouts over the last 796 days. So the sentence, I have done more than one 60 minute cardio vascular workout a day over the last 800 days will be accurate after today's workout- With the good Lord willing- AMEN!

In the last 796 days, I have done more than one workout a day.

Put it in the books - Day 797- burned with the right arctrainer machine I burned 1,479 in sixty minutes. There are basically two machines that in my opinion that are similar. The others are vastly different.

Day 796- In inexorable march we head towards May and 800

The truth be told and may the math be accurate, today is the 800Th 60 minute workout in the last 796 days. The big 8 oh oh. When I started this idea I never dreamed it would go this far. It has a life of its own. After all it has a birthday and has stories heck, it has its own book. This blog is set up for it. This blog was started for the comments I have put forward for the last 321 consecutive days. I am sorry did not start this blog at the time I started this streak.

Today the streak revealed some of its age. Way saw someone that I have not seen since Day 400. That is 396 days ago. Whoa!

Put me down for a good 1,390 calories today. I burned 330 calories on one machine in 15 minutes. Then the rest in 45 minutes on another machine.

Irregardless, of any numbers today I felt awesome. After my 60 minutes of exercise I took no break and mowed the lawn for 50 minutes.

Day 795 - How many people say I wish I can do what you can do?

I can imagine a lot of people. Now, I can imagine if they are not saying it, they are thinking it. The reason I feel this way is because most people envy what other people have. It is odd but think about that if you ever feel down. Understand this... you are special!

With a tremendous effort today and a ton of sweat, I burned 1450 calories in 60 minutes.

Day 794- The weather feels damp but I sense a warming coming

Sometimes, waking up is similar to a rebirth. I noticed that when I sleep one more hour than the night before I waking up very foggy . However, after a short while I fully awake. It is interesting because I unlike many I suppose, I use no caffeine. Yes boys and girls, it is possible to workout 800 or so days in a row without the aid of caffeine.

Today,1,442 calories burned, in 60 minutes.
I stayed active with a few hours of yard work. Felt great, wanted to continue. However, I needed to run errands.

Day 793- Trying to be unhealthy is simple and easy

I feel that has got to be about one of simplest and easiest things to.
I say this with conviction because deciding not to have any concern
for what goes in your body is simple. Also, the process of not doing
any excercise for a few days is very simple. Let's face it, sitting
down and eating whatever you can think of is very simple.
Now, some activities are simple but not easy. For instance, it simple
and not complicated to become a millionaire. Is it easy? Not hardly.
But it is simple. All you have to do is find away to accumulate a
million dollars. Once again, simple.

How about trying to be healthy? Is that simple? I say, no. Now I say
it with conviction because for last 800 days or more I have done just
that. It is definitely a complicated matter. If you do not believe me,
try it.

Today, I burned 1,472 calories in 60 minutes while using the arc
trainer.

Day 792- Thank you God for today's energy

To belief to the utmost the bible says we must believe and pray as if we have already received our wishes. Should you wish and pray for good health, the bible says, give thanks to God for granting you good health. Believe that in heaven, it has already been done to you.

Today, I pray for strength to do a good strong workout. Which I believe has been received- Thank you God!

As I poured it on during today's workout I was reminded by a simple truth faith, hope and love are God's gifts to us. May we all use them. Yes, my prayers were indeed answered.

Day 791- Covered a good amount of ground today!

The day's early start yielded a good workout. Had a lot of early fire was able to burn 1477 which is more than yesterday.

Thursday, April 22, 2010

Day 790- Ten from 800

Spare me the details, how do you feel? Well, my legs are not quite as sore as the past couple of days. Today, is a little different, I slept a good 6 and one half hours. I am looking forward to the workout. I have that customary question on my mind- I wonder what I got today?

I will say that my curiosity is a little higher than usual.

I feel our bodies need to have a certain flow to them that allows them to feel unencumbered. This flow must be a flow from a great reservoir of faith. This reservoir of faith should be a build up of all of one's belief. Once that build up of belief is acted upon with faith the person will have its flow.

Speaking of flow, I want to go!

I had a lot today I was able to burn 1,475 in 60.It felt awesome as I got stronger and stronger.

Day 789-Barking legs feel great when they are worked

What in God's name are you talking about. Well, think about it what is a barking leg? A barking leg is a leg that lets you know it is there. When my legs started barking I work them. And while I am working them they feel great.

Did you know that fruit tastes the best when you are thirsty? That is my theory. I usually include fruit as one of the first things I taste after my daily cardiovascular workout.

Whenever I feel fatigued I ask my self why. What exactly is my challenge? Am I bored? Exhausted? If I rest will it really help? Or maybe I am just mentally tired. So, to help myself I just take my mind of feeling fatigued.

Any who, it is time for different stuff.

Like a 1,464 burn in 60 for day 789.

Day 788 - Today marks the 313th day in a row I have posted

Yes sir folks I am giving my 313Th consecutive daily burst of thoughts. I had a thought earlier in the day today that is still being entertained in my mind. That thought is a simple one. Winners feel like, they want to do everything that needs to be done to accomplish their goal. Now, the converse of that would be losers, feel like they have to do everything that needs to be done to accomplish their goal.

Okay, let us get to it! If I feel like want to do something I usually do it better than when I feel like I have to do something. I think that is just human nature. Feeling like you want is usually better than feeling like you have to. Ah the wants and the haves, who wins? Based on my observation the feel like wants is definitely losing the battle versus the feeling have tos.

Now think about this, why is it much harder to meet a person who is happy and upbeat about life than it is to meet a person who more laid back and not really upbeat about life?

My thought because they feel like they have to be where they are right now as opposed to feeling like the want to be where they are right now.

Speaking of wanting. I wanted to break a 1,400 calorie burn in one hour and instead I settled for a 1,300 calorie burn in the hour.

Well, either way, I hope you enjoyed my 313Th consecutive daily post!

Day 787- Had a great day already

Woke up at 5:25 am. Left on foot for the gym at 6:10 am.Was using a working arc trainer at 6:50 am. Finished my 60 minutes of burning 1435 calories @ 7:50 am stretched. Left gym on foot @ 8:25 am.Arrived at home 8:55 am. Bingo, 3 hours of constant motion!

What if there was a fund raiser that was set up this way. First, as a member of any gym you can make a commitment to come back to the gym on a certain day. Second the person will leave a deposit of any sum of money. Third, if that person returns to the gym on the committed day he would have the deposit returned. Fourth, should the person not return on the committed today the deposit will be donated to a pre chosen charity. I feel the process would be awesome for two reasons - 1) improve the chance of the person to work out 2) allow a charity to receive some donations - Hey, hope and charity to all!

Day 786=Today I felt better and my numbers proved it

The body when in condition is very resilient.Yesterday, I dragged myself along, but today with a little more determination I felt stronger. By increasing my calorie burn from 1,450 in 60 to 1,459 in 60 I feel that is some proof to that theory.

Day 785- TODAY, WE SHED THE VEST

With some deliberation I have decided to do my 60 minutes without the vest. My plan is to be with vest again tomorrow. I am curious if I will feel stronger by doing the 60 minutes sans the vest. After today 800 days will be down to fifteen. So, 785 is what percent of 800? It is a little over 98 %. I am 98 % of the way to 800.

Whew, that went by fast.

It is funny. Some days everything is barking.. Now, I am not one to discuss my ailments so, I will not do it. I was hoping to be a hot knife going through butter but, instead I was a lukewarm knife going through butter. I did burn 1,450 calories though. I did feel great once I finished for it was a true feeling of accomplishment.

With a tough resolve, we take another step towards that magical number 800!!!!

Friday, April 16, 2010

Day 784- The 16 pound vest is on!

Let us give it a go shall we? Yesterday I was able to do 30 minutes with the vest on. Yesterday, I wore three layers of clothing. Today, I will wear two layers of clothing in an attempt to wear the vest for the entire sixty minutes. Life is all about challenges.

I bring with me today, a feeling of confidence. I expect to accomplish my goal and I have an attitude of gratitude for the opportunity.

As we met up with the 16 pound vest wearer he agreed to answer a few questions.
Q:So, why the vest?
A: The other day I saw it while I was cleaning a room and said, look at all that dust what a shame. After I got the dust off I decided to put it on. I had not worn it in over a year. It felt good to wear it. I had always wanted to use it while riding the life cycle but instead I only used it while doing chores around the house. Then I said I can definitely use it while I am exercising with the arc trainer. So, to answer a minuscule question there is enormous answer.
Q: I know today was Day 2 of the vest how did it go.
A: Great! I was able to keep it on longer than yesterday.
Q: I know you love to keep a close watch on your calorie burn and your overall numbers. How were your numbers today?
A; Great I kept the vest on for 35 minutes, which five more minutes than yesterday. I managed to burn 1,490 calories today.

That is the general gist of the talk. Tomorrow he will see how he feels before he goes in for his Saturday workout which he usually does around 7 am. As now he is undecided on wearing the vest.

Thursday, April 15, 2010

Day 783- The day we burned 761 calories in half hour while...

Wearing a SIXTEEN POUND WEIGHTED VEST! It felt awesome. My reason for wearing the vest today was to celebrate the finding of another person who is currently on a workout streak.

Yep. yesterday I was fortunate enough meet a person who has been running everyday since she was 13 years old. Now, I am not one to claim to be a age expert and I am also not one to ask a lady her age. So, I will take a step back and study the facts. She was drinking wine. She said she had a child. I being the bartender served her the wine and had no inclination to ask her for her identification. Now, with all that information it is easy to see how she must be on an incredible streak. How long has she been running 10 years? Maybe 15? WOW!

The day began with a fresh attitude of pushing myself. I noticed when I put the weighted vest on that I recalled my feelings when I first put it on about a year ago. I was very hesitant to take it off. I found myself wanting to see how long I can go with it on. For those of you that have never worn a weighted vest or had on ankle weights it is indeed an exhilarating challenge.

After thirty minutes of wearing the vest during my workout I took it off and completed my workout without wearing it. I managed to burn 744 calories in the last half hour. So all total I burned 1,505 calories in 1 hour.

Day 782- I often wondered .....

Why people think the way they do about... How is it that we put ourselves in the frame of mind to.........When some people make a decision they change the course of the world. Then while others make a decision nothing happens.

A strong example of people making a decision is discussed in the book written by Napoleon Hill titled "Think and grow rich". In the book Hill uses the power of decision as one thing that separates people from others. He cites they're ability to make a decision and to stick with it. Hill points out that it was the decision of a few people that helped form our country. I believe he is correct without these people's decision there is a good chance we as Americans would not be here today.

Today, at some point in time we will all make a decision. I hope if it is a good positive decision I pray that you all have the resolve to stay with it.

Did burn 1,481 calories in sixty minutes today. In the last few days, in sixty minutes I have burned 1,481-Day 782,1,496,1,478,1,476,1510 day 778.

Day 781- Winners do things because they want to

Have you ever felt like you are doing something because you have to? I am sure it is a common thing to have that feeling. I think if you feel like that is the only reason or incentive you have to do something is because you have to it is a poor commentary on your happy meter. Please do not misunderstand we all doing things because we have to. It is just a way of life. But, we do not have to feel like we do things because we have to.

There is a difference because we may have to do things but, we do not have to feel like we have to do things. We do have control over our feelings don't we?

I believe winners, whatever who or they are, have the same have to's but one of the things that separates them from others is they do things because they feel like they want to.
As I ponder my streak I realize that there may be others that have attempted to be on a streak of working everyday, but have stopped. I think wanting to workout have been a good reason for my continuation. Where others may have felt they had to workout and not keep with the routine.

Some people may not have continued their streak because they felt like had to instead of wanting to.

Well, today I wanted to burn 1,500 calories in an hour. Although, I really wanted to I burned 1,496 calories which was still satisfying because for the third day I burned more calories in 60 minutes than I did the day before.

Monday, April 12, 2010

Day 780-We have hit a new challenge:

Suppressing the desire to keep on working out after the hour has passed. It is now time for asset management. The time has come to utilize my richest asset and to make my life more enjoyable. What is my richest asset? Answer my energy.

My workout consisted of a 60 minutes of use on the arc trainer where I burned 1,478 calories. My goal was to burn 1,500 calories.

Remember what was said in the book freakonomics- Incentives play a major part of what we all do everyday.

Day 779- We have traveled many miles you and I

Yesterday was phenomenal.I felt a little weary but good and definitely satisfied with the amount of calories I burned. Today will be what life is an awesome opportunity to do my best. I got an extra half hour of sleep so I am feeling refreshed. There are many thoughts going through my consciousness right now I am trying to focus them on the workout.

One thought that seems to be inviting me to ponder. How does my body feel after having missed 5 days of abdominal workouts? I have not done an abdominal workout since Day 773.

I suppose I feel fine and I am reminded by a comment I once heard. The comment was by a great performer he said if I miss a day of practice I notice my performance the following day is different.Should I miss three days my critics notice it.When I miss a week my audience notices it.

Something to ponder when we evaluate our daily habits and activities.

Day-778-When one's focus is sharp and backed by determination ...

Day- 778 I must improve my stride
Lately(the last 2 days) I have burned less calories in an hour than I had in the past.
I cannot decide is it the machine or me? I need to either get more of a force going in my stride or just realize that the resistance on the machine has increased. This is now day 72 of using the arc trainer for my cardiovascular 60 minute workout. Although, this is day 778 and over those days I have done 782 60 minute workouts I have also done 706 60 minute workouts on the life cycle. Now, the life cycle riding was pretty steady there was times when I slowed down a little.
I am curious me or the machine ?- Today will be interesting-
I still feel great despite cutting down on my abdominal workout.

Day-778-When one's focus is sharp and backed by determination ...

One can set new levels of performance.
Witness today, I woke up after a very strenuous 4 hours of frenetic activity that was followed by 4 1/2 hours of sleep. Once I shook off the cobwebs I went on to set a personal best of burning 1,510 calories in sixty minutes.
I beat my previous record of burning 1,503 in sixty minutes.
My pace was blistering I burned 759 calories in first thirty minutes which is a calories burn of 1518 per hour. Although I only burned 1,510 I was flying.

Day 776-A warm one, a discovery!

When you raise the weight on the arc trainer the resistance is lowered.

Burned 1475 calories in 65 minutes.
However, in 1st 60 minutes burned only 1,214! Only when I raised the weight was I able to burn more calories.

Wednesday, April 7, 2010

Day 775-A day of being where you are at

We must all learn how to enjoy the moment.

I spent myself today 1,385 in 60 but, believe me it was a warm awesome workout. Sometimes,
we must judge ourselves on effort alone. Today was one of those times!

Tuesday, April 6, 2010

Day 774-Time has come to allocate my time towards establishing a stronger future

Day 774 1,462- 180- no abs no arms
Time has come to allocate my time towards establishing a stronger future.
Keeping a sustained effort of cleaning(making the home beautiful)
And pursuing a BETTER job!

Goal: keep a positive focus!
Play
who can make the home the most beautiful?

Who can get the best job?

Day 773- The bat has cracked and the new Baseball season is off and running

I am also amazed how the first game of the baseball season puts me right back to the last season. My focus today is on several things having an awesome workout is one of them. This is my third opening day on the streak!

Dove into workout today did a 1,476 calorie burn within the hour. Operated on limited time with 800 crunches.

Sunday, April 4, 2010

Day 772-Happy Easter, up early to embrace the day!

With this day being my third Easter Sunday I reflect back and realize all the other days have had workouts in different places. In 2008 which was day 30 I used the treadmill for an hour. In 2009, I rode my life cycle for 1 1/2 hours. Today I plan on using the arc trainer.

The plan worked I sweated profusely, its getting warmer.Burned 1,442 in an hour. A marathoner asked if I run any road races. With a pang I said no.

Saturday, April 3, 2010

Day 771- I have not missed a day since June 19, 2009:Day 483

So the streak of posting is now at 288 straight days. Everyday I have posted some thoughts about my workout.
At 10 am the season of Lent will come to an end then Easter will begin. My God bless all at this holiest of times.

The weather yesterday was warm and very spring like.Temperatures were in the 70's. After completing my record setting calorie burn I worked as we call it in the business "a double." That is where you work two shifts back to back. I was on my feet from 9 in the am until 10 in the pm. To tell the truth it felt good.

I suppose it is good for the living I heard that a fish does not sleep yet, it keeps moving all the time. What an incredible concept. No sleep but still it keeps on swimming.

This streak has served me well, I hope I have served the streak well. God knows I have talked about it enough. At times I feel like I am preaching about it. My purpose for this incessant commenting is to tell the world two valuable things:
1) get on a workout program
2))it is okay to do it daily
3) learn to love your workout and body will thank you

The sun is starting to give it's big push to come up today. It is now 6:13 am. As is my Saturday habit I give myself small rest and then I am back moving again. Some people on the weekend drink like a fish. I, on the other hand move like a fish-

Got moving did a 1,461 calorie burn in 60 minutes. I felt every second of it and it was SWEET! May have been slightly over layered but felt awesome.

Here is a thought, where would the world be today if ...
they did what I did everyday in terms of working out and eating?
In my opinion, the gyms would be much more full and the food economy as we know it would be very different. As I mentioned before, over the last 74 days I have enjoyed a strictly vegan diet with a strong emphasis on no cholesterol. I mean none! It is indeed a challenge to keep this crazy diet in tact. But as i have said many times before I feel great.
It is indeed a challenge to keep this crazy diet in tact. But, as I have said many times before I feel great!

So, maybe my diet is very different but I am really not that interested in changing.

Day 770- The four minute mile

How can anyone ever run a mile in four minutes or less? Let us dwell on that question a bit.
May 5Th 1954 the day before the 4 minute Mile was broken the thought was a human being can not run a mile in 4 minutes or less.
The reasons were many. The biggest was simply because it had never been done before. So much for that reason. So much for that way of thinking.
Not long after the 4 minute mile had been surpassed one time it was done over and over again-Huh?

How can anyone workout 770 straight days? Has it been done before?

Well, there is two things that have never been done before that were done today.
1) working out 770 straight days
2) burning 1,503 calories in an hour

I knew my workout time was limited today so I wanted to max out.
Happy April 2ND third anniversary! I celebrated by breaking a personal record on machine # 40!

In a few hours we look to celebrate another third anniversary April 3RD- Day 771

Thursday, April 1, 2010

Day 769- The weather is beginning to warm up!

If this was an airplane and I was the captain my voice would come over the speaker and say "ladies and gentlemen we are starting are final descent on spring. The temperature is 70 degrees and skies are clear. "

Yes, folks spring is a few minutes away get your bags together because here it is.

Time to get a spring in your step time and to get fired up about going outside and giving yourself a good workout. Get those old endorphins going. Your juices need to be flowing. Think happy thoughts start to feel good about yourself.

Come on now, let's go out there like a bunch of crazed dogs and have some fun!

Today we shoot for day 769! Today is also, the third April first I have worked out on during this streak. Here is a look back at the last two April firsts. The first would be April 1, 2008 where I workout for 60 minutes on the life cycle it was Day 39 of the streak. The second April first was in 2009 when I celebrated Day 404 by burning 957 calories in 60 minutes while riding the life cycle. I suppose today, like all for this year will be somewhat of a third anniversary. Ha, that makes me chuckle...

All workouts are easy once they are done. Day 769, is in the books. It was warm and challenging. I burned 1,449 calories in an hour did 1,600 crunches and held the plank for 5 straight songs.I feel great and nice weather is invigorates me----WHOOSH!

I am reporting this part of the post wireless! I now feel loose and comfortable.
Can I get an AMEN?
