Day 1194 - After a day of normal activities....

We rise at 410 am and focus on blasting a strong workout in before 6 am.

The result a hard fought 1306 burn in the hour. I eschewed the crunches for the second day in a row. Yesterday, I was limited on time to post. I must admit having to fight off the effects of a cold and do a one hour cardiovascular workout is a serious challenge. I notice yesterday that just doing the daily toil while fighting off the cold was a good challenge.

As we strive towards the BIG TWELVE HUNDRED we had to expect some tough sledding along the way.

Day 1195 comes hurtling around that corner any minute. Let us step up and meet it!

Day 1193 Today we resume all normal activities

As we hit Monday we start a weekday work week. The daily toil lies ahead. Today's schedule for working out is similar to a Saturday schedule where the gym opens at 7 am. Only I have to race to get to work by 9 am. A good challenge for the recuperated body.

Its now 602 am I will be leaving shortly.

I hope the open earlier than 7 am. Hopefully 630 or so. As Day 1193 falls on a Monday it is only fitting that Day 1200 falls on a Monday. Monday is usually a very good challenge and a culmination of seven straight days of action.

Our main for opening the door was not on the scene. As a result, I was barely able to do all I needed to do to get to work on time.

I scratched and clawed and burned 1290 calories in an hour and was not able crunch or stretch. Oh well, c'est la vie.

Day 1192- Up early for the first time since Day 1189

It felt good to hit the floor as early as 530 am. How I felt when I hit the floor was another matter, does that make sense? We are all challenged everyday by certain challenges, Today is another day off from reporting to work. I believe if I had to report I would be game to the dare.

As today unfolds I do have constant activity planned that appears to quite vigorous.

So, we shall see how my vigor measures out today.

I burned 1321 and 810 yesterday. I gave myself some sleep last night about six hours worth.
So my journey to the other side should interesting......

Slept from 11:45 pm to 525 am a good strong 5 hours and 40 minutes.

Did a weak 1298 in the hourly calorie burn but did blast out a strong 1110 crunches.

Tomorrow the gym opens at 7 am and I am scheduled for the toil at 9am it should be a good chase!

Saturday, May 28, 2011

Day 1190 Here I am feeling a pang about ....

Passing on the daily toil.It is not like me to come up sick, but last nights fever is evidence of that. I look at it like this, it is not fair to go into work sick, and get other people sick. I was told that by three maybe four mangers yesterday. But............. if I have the strength why not workout?

I do have achy feelings, so what. The streak should live. I believe the worst is over and I have got the entire day to rest if need be.Or maybe I will mow the lawn--- Who knows?

With all the guts and desire I had in me I burned 1316 in the hour and did 410 crunches. Of course with sickness I rested for 30 hours prior to working out. I just had some juice and realized I might have sweated a good seven pounds. That sounds incredulous but, who knows? All I know is, I was very zapped when I was done. Plus, I started by burning 900 calories in the first 40 minutes.Which is 1350 per hour pace. After the first forty minutes the water really started to flow. With temperature at 84 I was wearing three layers which would make anyone perspire profusely.

So now we we roll the dice on tomorrow as we go for 1191 with 21 hours of rest.

If ever I was up to the challenge it will be then!

Day 1191 A Saturday with a different twist

As this blog business gets cleared up I hope I can muster up the strength to do a workout today. Yesterday I said no to the daily toil. Considering I had not missed a day in a year for any sickness at the daily toil it felt very awkward just resting in the house for a day.

Now today, I will not go in but if I can gain some strength I can
Do the workout
Mow the lawn

As I blow my nose and spit clunk of of my mouth. I will say this I am determined!

I much more determined now! I think I have weathered the storm. I burned 1320 in an hour today along with doing 1000 gut wrenching crunches.

I feel stronger and am now determined( there is that word again) to mow the lawn. It will look awesome after I am done.

Day 1192 I am ready-----

Thursday, May 26, 2011

Day 1189 With a huge portion of determination the streak lives!

If ever there was a time or a day when I wondered if I could do it, it was this morning when the 410 went off. I felt a good amount more comfortable when I got out of bed than I did when I got in it. I got up and so how and to be honest I am not sure how I did, I got ready and went to the gym and arrived at the earliest time that I have all week.

By 437 am I was dressed, fed and ready to play. I blasted out 1301 with a good push at the end. I did 810 crunches and really did feel awesome.

As I was heading out the door I felt a tremendous sense of accomplishment. Just realizing what kind of an effort it took just to:
  • get out of bed
  • get ready
to do it Another thing about Day 1189

Day 1189 a titanic struggle

Burned 1301 calories and 810 crunches. I am impressed that I was able to workout despite how lousy I felt yesterday.
My blogger is down because of some problem with accessing it. So, we go ahead and use this reliable notepad.

Now we head towards day 1190, I should feel better and be able to beat 1302 and 811 crunches.

Wednesday, May 25, 2011

Day 1188 A good challenge today!

With my body feeling a little different, I persevered and did all I could. My 1321 calorie burn in sixty minutes and 1020 crunches and sweat is my testament to that effort.

I love it!

Day 1189 I will feel better and do better!

Tuesday, May 24, 2011

Day 1187 A tight beginning but a strong finish

It felt awesome overcoming a slow start and to finish with a good kick! Burning 1338 calories never felt so good.Doing 710 crunches had a particular sweetness to it. Although it was warmer I workout with three layers on. The challenge is always there, I love its persistence.

We spend so much time avoiding it instead, just turn around and embrace it. For those of you who know the it, I am referring to I say, "thank you." For those that do not know of the it, I am referring to....... Let's just say it is anything you want it to be.

As we continue our quest towards 1200 we climb the 1188TH step. We will beat 1339 and 711 tomorrow!

Day 1186 When pride still mattered! As we hit workout # 1200

We cannot forget Day 1186 because day 1186 is the day when 1200TH 60 minute cardiovascular workout was done. As I have posted here before, on some of the last 1186 days I did more than one 60 minute workout. The total of workouts I have done in excess of the number of days in this streak is 14.

As I awoke this morning I could not help but have a clear view in my mind's eye of the play I had just seen the day before. The play was called "Lombardi" and it was the last showing on Broadway. I must say, "What a performance!"

A great quote from the play, "if man does not like to follow orders then maybe he should be a leader instead of a follower."

Today, I lead myself to burn 1341 calories in the hour and managed only to do 410 crunches.

We now head down the stretch to see our twelve hundredth day. We are now fourteen days away. But first we get day 1187! Bring it. ON!

Sunday, May 22, 2011

Day 1185 Yes, we play today; a day off, six personal days in last 366!

We get our workout in and we head to New York to see Lombardi on Broadway- I am psyched as my calculations revealed that the six personal days will be my opportunities to chill after my workout. The plan is simple workout then go to New Haven onto New York and watch the last showing of Lombardi on Broadway.

I have read a lot about Lombardi the man the myth the legend. The one word that I generate in my mind is winning. He had a strong sense of what it takes to produce positive results.

Now I will venture to the stage and see a closer view of one person interpretation of who he was. I feel honored that I get to watch and see the final showing during particular Broadway run.

Now we head to the gym as the rain comes down, so what else is has not been different these past few weeks?

I did 1369 calories burned per hour yesterday and 1370 crunches. How much will I beat those numbers by?

A strong effort yields a 1373 calorie burn in 60. However, only a 1010 in crunches- Bummer!

Off to Broadway!

Day 1186 will be the 1200Th 60 minute workout in the last 1186 days! Let us make it, a stellar one.

Day 1184 We head into the day of the week in which it all started

It was a Saturday, a cold deary Saturday at the end of February 2008. It was a leap year so there was 29 days in the month. As I look back my workouts really were not as intense. I remember just having the mindset of "how many days can I keep doing this?"

My stamina increased everyday along with my confidence. So here I am, some 169 Saturday's later and still working out for and hour everyday.

Today, I realize the days I have missed from May 20TH 2010 to May 20TH 2011 where I have not gone to either one of my two jobs. Here are the dates:

May 30Th reason Memorial Day restaurant closed
June none
July 4Th restaurant closed
August 8Th personal + August 15Th personal
September 5TH Labor Day restaurant closed -
October 31st restaurant closed
November 25Th thanksgiving business closed
December 25Th Christmas both places closed, December 26Th restaurant closed, December 27Th snow, December 28Th snow
January 1st restaurant closed, January 2ND restaurant closed, January 27 TH snow
February 6Th Super Bowl personal
March 26Th personal
April 1 24Th personal Easter
May none 0

A total of 17 days, of which 5 were personal.
Twelve where I took the day off for other reasons than no work available to go to or snow.
Nine days there was no work to go to.
Three days I was snowed in and probably worked just as hard trying to dig out.
Five days out of 365, oh yeah!

Now we dig in one more time!

A good dig 1369 calories burned in 60 minutes and 1370 crunches. I am not sure if I have ever done more crunches than calories burned.

Tomorrow ----Lombardi--- but first, the 1199TH workout in the last 1185 days.

Friday, May 20, 2011

Day 1183 As we beat yesterday on two fronts

We beat it by burning 1345 calories in an hour and we crunched 1290 times! Winning is fun!

Today is day 365 since I started my daily toil. In that span of 365 days I have only missed 20 days. I am in the process of counting the actual days I have missed since May 20Th 2010 where I did not work the entire day.

Another Saturday coming our way! Day 1184. We are 2 workouts from 1200!

Thursday, May 19, 2011

Day 1182 Now that is a great start

First, we get up at 411 am then, we burn 1330 calories in an hour on the arc trainer. After we do 1210 crunches then we stretch. Shower, and prepare as awesome breakfast of pineapple, strawberries, blue berries, apple, cinnamon, oatmeal and water. Wash it down with a vitamin with antioxidant and vitamin c seltzer and orange juice with calcium and you realize how sweet life really is!

I feel awesome and pleased that my calorie burn and crunch numbers went up!

Day 1183 harks as it moves in!

Wednesday, May 18, 2011

Day 1181 As soon as you over come one on comes another,ah perfect

It was William Clement Stone who said, " no matter what happens good or bad practice saying, that's good!"Then ask yourself why is it good? Allow your mind a chance to search for answers. So, just saying today is a good day is fine but why is it a good day. It is very similar in thought to paying someone a compliment. It always great to say hey, you look good today. However, expressing why you feel they look good takes the compliment to another level. When you state the reasons why you give the person a chance to see the sincerity in your statement.

Positive thinking, I believe is the cornerstone of the accomplishment of any worthy goal. Good is a word that confident people use.

I battled today and burned less( 1308 in 60) than yesterday but I did more crunches(1070) than yesterday and I started my workout earlier(440am) than I did yesterday. Right now, I feel better than I did yesterday.

Day 1182 on the horizon....

Tuesday, May 17, 2011

Day 1180 The challenge was good today

After yesterday's insane work load at the daily toil my efforts were there but, my numbers were not. This crazy journey has taught me more than I can ever imagine. My body has been challenged again and again. My fire still burns while my body asked me to slow down a bit. I feel good I am rejuvenated I am anxious for the next hurdle.

We press on, dogged and determined. Twelve is in the horizon. Day 1180 yielded a 1310 calorie burn in the hour and 620 crunch effort.

We are within 20 days of 1200- Day one starts in a few hours.

Monday, May 16, 2011

Day 1179 Felt awesome on a short turn around

I checked it. The time in between workouts was exactly ... eighteen hours and thirty nine minutes.
I burned 1326 calories in the hour. Then I did 1250 crunches. Feeling awesome during and after a workout is a great thing. We are with shouting distance of 1200 days.

Here is an interesting note. On May 20Th 2011 it will be one year since I started work at my full time position. I also have a 2 day a week part time job. Since I have started working the two jobs simultaneously I have missed less than twenty days of work in about a year. This also includes working out every day. Talk about activity. I know I have it documented as what days I actually did not go to either job. I am going to check to see what were the days in this year I have missed.

Day 1180 is coming around the bend.

Sunday, May 15, 2011

Day 1178 The scene outside says, "early summer" but ...

Yep, it sure looks like a early summer's day. However, the temperature is a 55 degrees with a forecast of a high of 67 and rain a with thunder storms. The trees have a beautiful green to them as well as the grass.

I slept until 720 am today. The last time I slept that late was May 1st ( Day 1164 ). Right now it is 8 am. When you give your body an seven to eight hour rest it needs a few minutes to get used to the upright position. Especially if you have gone two weeks without affording it such a break.

I am always curious what kind of a response I will get from my body when I sleep that long. Will the rest help raise the performance or will it hinder it?

Ticktock we will know soon the answers soon enough.

Not bad felt looser earlier and burn 1371 per hour. Did 1210 crunches--- Oh yeah!

The rest helped! Good question.

Lombardi once said, winning isn't everything but, the will to win is!

That was misunderstood to be said as, winning isn't everything it is the only thing.

Well, you fill in the blanks on your life right now, ____isn't everything, _________ is the only thing.

Now we go on short rest on day 1179- COME ON!

Saturday, May 14, 2011

Day 1177 Welcome to an early Saturday post

I once heard this expression, and thought about its theory. Man as a mass totally predictable, however, man as an individual totally unpredictable. There is a lot of truth to that. Why do we have any sort of long term investments? However, we do not know individually who will invest.

Think about the prospect of opening a gambling casino. The only reason why you would is the hope of making more money than you pay out. Life shows us the averages all the time. But it is very hard to determine which individual will choose which average they choose.

So we have wrapped up another week of this pace of working seven days a week while working out everyday. So far, no complaints. I have developed such routines that they are just about poured into cement. As I mentioned yesterday, if you do not vary your practice everyday your actions to some, can seem very un---interesting.

"Show me the way to gym", he said. And his being took him .........

Took me to an awesome level.

More boring detail....

Burned 1356 calories in the sixty minutes!
Did 1170 crunches almost matched the day! It probably took me 20 to 25 minutes to do them.
For some reason I never time how long it takes to do it.

Now after enjoying the 25 hour break in between workouts we focus in on day 1178.
We chase 1357 and 1180+++!

Friday, May 13, 2011

Day 1176- Friday the 13Th; try Friday the 168Th for the most uninteresting man in the world

He starts his his day in the most uninteresting way. The same alarm goes off to the same sound. He puts on the same washed workout clothes and arrives at the gym with the same greeting everyday. He works out on the same machine and does the same 60 minute workout everyday. He says very little to anyone and changes out of his workout clothes so he can do another workout of crunches and stretches to cool down.As he leaves he offers an uninteresting good bye.
.
Yes folks, he is the most uninteresting man in the world........

NOT! Today, was awesome I bounced back pumped to burn more calories in sixty minutes than I did yesterday. My result was I burned 34 more calories( 1347) then yesterday( 1313). That was a great feeling and certainly not uninteresting! Yesterday I did 960 crunches, today, I did 1040.My energy got a nice boost by getting extra sleep. After a great 5 and half hours of sleep I felt awesome.

Day 1177 is approaching.......

Thursday, May 12, 2011

Day 1175 Thirteen thirteen mockingbird lane!

No, its not the old TV show the Munsters its my calorie burn for the hour on fours and twenty minutes of sleep. However, I did do 960 crunches five minutes after I got off the arc trainer.

I am psyched to go see "Lombardi" on Broadway. Now, we set our sights on Day 1176 and carry the spirit of 76 to the day!

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

Day 1174 - 1460 equals four years

Four years of daily workouts. Now keep in mind the clock started ticking on February 23, 2008. So, we are 286 days away from 1460. Which means we are 131 days into 2011. Either way, I got on the machine earlier today than yesterday but I burned less calories in the hour than yesterday. By burning 1329 as compare to 1339.

I was on the machine at 447am. So be it! I did 860 crunches which was less than yesterday's 1020.

We charge ahead - Day 1175 is coming I'm ready!

Tuesday, May 10, 2011

Day 1173 We hit them hard, we knock them out and we chalk the up!

We hit them hard, we knock them out and we chalk the up!
We hit them hard, we knock them out and we chalk the up!

One more time:

We hit them hard, we knock them out and we chalk the up!

I really felt it today. My numbers may not show it but I workout extremely hard. Maybe because I noticed, the sun came up at 538am. I burned 1339 but, it felt like I burned 1539. However, I did not. I did do 1010 crunches. I felt awesome!

As 737 am today the tenth of May 2011 I feel outstanding. You should just see the shirt I am wearing. Ha!

We dig in for 1174 -Bring me some!

Monday, May 9, 2011

Day 1172 We got here by hard work and determination....

As we officially close the book on another routine interrupting Mother's Day. I realize I am a fortunate person and truly a person that feels blessed. Blessed by a caring loving upbringing. Blessed with a caring loving family. These are about all a person can say when these feelings do pour of him.

It did feel good to be back on the arc trainer and burn 1351 calories in the hour and follow the workout with 930 crunches. I flt great and do feel great.

Now it is off to the other daily toil and its challenges and adventures on the excellent weather spring morning.

Day 1173 coming down the chimney down!

Sunday, May 8, 2011

Day 1171 Mothers Day may God bless all you creators of life!

As I look back on my past Mother's Day workouts I find:

On May 11Th 2008 Day 79 got up @ 515 did 750 cal ride In @ 172lbs

On May 10Th 2009 got home @ 1130 pm no way icould get up @ 5am and do ride; so did it after all day work 10:30-10:30- this not really a 2 aday.day 443- did 2 on sat however, started at 11;30 pm done @ 12:45am home 870-173

On May 9Th 2010 Day 807 772 calories burned plainville gym weighed in @ 6 pm 178 -GREAT EFFORT UP@ 5AM

As we can see, this Mother's Day and the restaurant business is a tough mix. Its like putting bolts in the blender. You are really not sure what is going to come out.

On this Day, Day 1171, May 8 Th; I rode the life cycle with a 17 pound weighted vest on and shadow boxed while using 5 pound weights in each hand. It was not as challenging as the arc trainer but, I did it for 50 minutes of the sixty minutes I was on the life cycle. On the other
10 minutes I shadow boxed without and weights. That was I tremendous challenge to keep punching and pedaling for and hour.

I am planning on ending work at 4 pm today so I can get ready for tomorrow's 4 Am's wake up and 430ish workout.

Another Mother's Day challenge met!

Saturday, May 7, 2011

Day 1170 Coincidently today is our 702ND post!

On June 8Th 2009 I started this blog( Day 474). Ever since June 19Th 2009 I have missed a day of posting. That is a total of 701 consecutive days of blog posting. To clarify this has been my schedule ever since February 23, 2008 I have not missed a day of my hourly workout and ever since June 19Th 2009 I has not missed a day of daily posting.

So to simplify, of 1170 days of consecutive workouts, I have posted for 701 straight days.

Now that I got that off my chest, and I gear myself for another Saturday workout, I am psyched to see if I got beat an hourly calorie burn of 1368 ++. I finished my worked yesterday today at 555am it will be 25 hours since. That is ample rest to put out a good burn.

I am contemplating today's question. The one I keep asking myself is, what are my natural talents?

That is a very deep and introspective question. What comes to me naturally. As people say today "what is in your DNA?"

I believe that most people work to level and quit. Some people realize what comes easy and use that and never really try to expand on that.

I am no hero. I just kind of discovered this for myself through my own actions.
A fact I overlooked over the years was that just about everyone knows what to do but, most chose not to do it.

On to 1170 the Kentucky Derby the first Saturday in May. Run for the roses. Saturday # 167!

Down the stretch they come!

Ran for the roses today by burning 121 calories in the last five minutes of a 1374 calorie burn in one hour. Did 920 crunches and felt awesome. Tomorrow will pose a challenge because

  1. gym opens at 7am
  2. we start serving Mother Day brunch at 930 am
  3. there is usually an hour set up time before brunch
  4. I live 45 minutes from brunch
  5. if I do my hour and 45 minute drive, My set time will be 45 minutes

I need come up with a plan!

Stay tuned!

Day 1169 Feeling good and revitalized

Asa the day went on yesterday I kept testing my foot. As the day went on it kept feeling better and better. So I just kept moving faster and faster. It is surprising after have had to slow down for a few days how winded I initially got when I first regained the pace of about a week ago. It was almost like here are your legs back now test them and see if there better. Then you realize how much fun it is to be back moving on that pace again.

They once asked a great performer"how do you do it?"The performer sighed and said, "practice, practice. I practice everyday. When I miss a day of practice I notice it. Then if I miss three days my critics notice it. Now, if I miss a week of practice my audience notices it.

Well I am not about to miss a day. However, if my pace slows down I notice it. And that is all audiences and critics I need.

Great to be back. I burned 1365 today in the hour will doing 840 crunches. I also won the new morning game, by beating the rush. Got to beat 5 am!

Day 1170 hark ens!

Thursday, May 5, 2011

Day 1168 Who knows maybe that foot thang is gone?

Been challenged as of the last few weeks on a foot thing. But suddenly yesterday morning around 515 am I felt great. I moved faster than I had in awhile and felt the old soreness from moving quick.

Today, I busted it and burned 1367 and it felt awesome. Am I back in the saddle again. Heck I will take it. I also did 820 crunches.

I am psyched for Day 1169!

Wednesday, May 4, 2011

Day 1167 Feeling the challenge and moving forward

As we hit mid week I am getting my stride back. Today, I gassed myself and burned 1360 calories in the hour. I needed a good stretch to pull my self back together. I feel awesome right now as I get ready for the daily toil.

I paused for a few minutes today and kickoff the activities at 510 am. The pause worked I felt stronger.

We are now 3 days from 1170 as we push towards 1200. I am amazed by my resiliency.

The next step is day 1168- Here we go!

Tuesday, May 3, 2011

Day 1166 The military trains everyday

They have revelry then they exercise. They usually get up at 0400 hours and begin. Well, today I began at 0400 and did an hour on the arc trainer and burned 1301 calories in an hour.I know my daily workout is not as strenuous as the military but, I am still going strong after eleven hundred and sixty six days!

Day 1167 puts us a mere 33 days from the big twelve! Bring it on!

Monday, May 2, 2011

Day 1165 A PM Post

I usually post right after the workout. Well, not today. I will keep it brief. Burned 1354 in the hour. Felt awesome as I woke up after a 4 hour rest. Got on the machine at 512 am.

Bin Laden Is DEAD!

In a few hours we take another hack at it - I'm ready- Day 1166!

Sunday, May 1, 2011

Day 1164- So now I learned there are many who hear the call

In the past few days I have come to find out that many people do what I do and more.

For one, the United States Military begins each day with some sort of workout. And then there is this little old lady who is 92 years of age that rides a stationary bike 12 miles a day and has done so since 1986.

I feel as though what I have been doing all of a sudden is not so strange. Maybe my diet coupled with my daily activity may separate me, but I suppose there are plenty of people who sustain their lifestyles in a similar fashion.

As we look to break ground on Day 1164 with a keen eye on the numbers to exceed 1359++ hour calorie burn plus 1101 + crunches we are fortified with ample rest. I slept a good 7 plus hours last night.

We off to see what we got----------------------

Had a lot of energy as I burned 1391 in the hour and did 1230 crunches today. If there was no such word for fatigued or tired would you invent one?

Tomorrow, we breakout the machine nice and early.I can hear the crowd roaring can you?
